Getting Started

How do I create an account?

Click 'Sign Up' in the top right corner. Sign up with your email address, create a password, and verify your email to get started.

Is WAM free?

Yes — you can create a profile, browse members, and explore the app for free. Premium memberships (Bronze, Silver, Gold) unlock additional features like unlimited messaging, advanced filters, AI tools, and more.

Do I need to be a certain age to join?

You must be at least 18 years old to use WAM. We verify ages during signup and remove underage users.

How do I verify my profile?

Profile verification helps other members trust you're real. Verified profiles receive a badge and are prioritised in search results. You can verify through the app.

Can I use WAM on my phone?

Yes! WAM is a mobile-first web app that works beautifully on any device — just open it in your browser. No app download required.

Profile & Settings

How do I edit my profile?

Go to Settings > Edit Profile. You can update your photos, bio, preferences, and personal information at any time.

What makes a good profile?

Clear, recent photos that show your face, an honest and engaging bio, and completed profile sections. Be specific and authentic — generic phrases get skipped.

Can I hide my profile temporarily?

Yes. Switch on Incognito Mode in your settings to hide your profile from search results while still browsing and messaging existing matches.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings > Account > Deactivate. This hides your profile immediately. Contact support if you want your data permanently removed.

What photos can I upload?

Photos should be of you, recent, and appropriate. No nudity, no photos of children, and at least one photo must clearly show your face.

Matching & Messaging

How does matching work?

Browse suggested profiles, use search filters, or see who's viewed your profile or liked you. There's no single algorithm — you're in control of who you connect with.

How do I start a conversation?

Match with someone and send them a message. If you're stuck, use our icebreaker suggestions or conversation games to get things started naturally.

Why didn't they respond?

There are many reasons — they may not have seen it, may not feel a connection, or may not be active. Don't take it personally; focus on mutual interest.

Can I undo a block?

Yes — go to Settings > Blocked Users and select 'Unblock'.

What are disappearing messages?

You can set messages to disappear after a set time (1 minute to 24 hours). Great for more private conversations.

Safety & Privacy

How do I report someone?

Tap the three dots on their profile or in your conversation and select 'Report'. Our safety team reviews all reports.

How do I block someone?

Tap the three dots on their profile or in your conversation and select 'Block'. Blocked users can't see your profile or contact you.

Who can see my profile?

By default, active members within your preferences. You can tighten this with privacy settings and incognito mode.

Is my personal information safe?

What should I do if I suspect a scam?

Report the profile immediately and stop all communication. Never send money. See our Safety Tips page for warning signs.

What are the paid membership tiers?

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept PayPal, plus all major credit and debit cards processed securely through PayPal.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings > Membership > Cancel subscription. You'll keep premium features until the end of your billing period.

Do you offer refunds?

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers. Contact support within the first 30 days for a full refund.

Will my subscription auto-renew?

Yes, subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the renewal date. You'll get an email reminder beforehand.

Technical Issues

Why can't I log in?

Check you're using the correct email and password. Try resetting your password with the 'Forgot Password' link on the sign-in page.

Why aren't my messages sending?

Check your internet connection. Free members have messaging limits — upgrade to a paid plan for unlimited messaging.

The site is running slowly

Try clearing your browser cache and cookies. Check your internet connection and try a different browser if the issue persists.

My photos won't upload

Ensure photos are under 10MB and in JPG, PNG, or WEBP format. Check your internet connection and try a different browser if needed.

I'm not receiving email notifications

Check your spam/junk folder. Add notifications@wam.au to your contacts. Verify your notification preferences in Settings.
